BH Cosmetics: 88 Tropical Shimmer Palette Review and Swatches

BH Cosmetics is a completly web based make up company, you can order from here: www.bhcosmetics.com. They ship internationally and almost always have sales going on. I have ordered products and had them shipped to both Canada and Australia, the packaging is amazing I haven't had a broken product yet!

My only complaint about the packaging would be that finger prints show up so easily, but that's just a little thing that has no real consequences on the product.

They list the ingredients on both the both the palette comes in and on the palette itself which I think is a great idea for people who are sensitive or allergic to different ingredients.

Ah! Shimmer how I love you!

The description from the website:
Devastate them all with your sexy, tropical shimmer. Warm summer sands gleam with fresh ocean sprays of crystalline blues and sea jewel greens. Sunburst oranges and fiery pinks burn with glimmering glamour. Soft pelican grays and pearly browns add a hint of coolness.

I love these colours so so much! There are a few shadows in the palette that aren't as pigmented as some of the others but those a few and far between. You can make a range of looks with this palette, toned down day looks, bright coloured looks, sultry shimmery smoky eyes. There can be a bit of fall out with some of the shadows, best way to deal with that is use a patting motion with your brush rather that sweeping the colour over your eyelid or use a fan brush to pick up the fall out.

I always use a primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion: Original and Sin) and sometimes a base (NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk) with these so I am not sure how long they last or if they crease with out one. I just prefer using a primer it makes for a smoother application.

All in all this palette is good for people who like a LOT of shimmer, gives you a range of colours for those of you just starting out and not wanting to fork out alot for high end colours.

Price: $20.95
I bought mine when there was a 50% off sale so I got mine for around $10. Keep an eye on their website or sign up for their newsletter for info on the sales they have if you don't want to pay full price.

I know it's pretty swatch heavy but I just wanted to show you how pretty these colours are my favourite is No. 34 that blue/purple colour is just so pretty, I just like to look at. So mesmerizing!

This is just a look I put together, inspired by one of the cranberry shades.

In conclusion:

  • Great Range of Shimmery Colours
  • Really nice pigmentation
  • Nice staying power with a primer
  • Can have fall out on some shadows.
  • Good packaging for travel or taking to a girlfriend's house for make overs.
  • Overall a great palette for a great price!
